PGR-8800

Arc flash mishaps are highly probable in electrical switchboards especially since they may be caused by rodents or falling tools. An arc flash causes huge damage to the switchboard as well as injury to the operating personnel in a very short time of about 150 milliseconds.

This damage can be minimised if the system is tripped within 100 milliseconds of the occurrence of arc before significant energy is developed. Hence an arc flash protection system is a necessity in every electrical switchboard, to ensure operator safety and to minimise the damages associated with an arc flash event.

PGR 8800 provides effective arc flash protection using optical point and fiber sensors. The system generates a trip within 1 millisecond of arc detection. Thus, power may be disconnected within 40-50 milliseconds before it can cause significant damage.
